Beginner's Photography Class
Saturday 18 January
5th Ave, Manhattan - 10am - 3 Hours
Wick Beavers
Hi and Welcome.
I'm Wick Beavers (https://wickbeavers.com) and I've been a photographer since 1968 or so when I begged Santa for a 35mm Camera and some Black and White Film back when I was 15. I couldn't paint, draw or cut a piece of wood straight. So I picked up photography as a frustrated artist! I began taking pictures when cameras had no light meters or auto modes and I am excited to show you why why WHY you need to know your camera well enough to own its control to ease your entry into this really thrilling Artistic field. I've been shooting for magazines and Advertising Clients for years now. We will meet at BETHESDA TERRACE in Central Park on Sunday, December 1 at 10AM. Let's do it! Please bring your fully charged camera, a single lens of your choice, an empty memory stick (an extra battery and empty memory stick are important to bring) and a copy of your camera Manual (original booklet or a downloaded copy on your phone) and an open mind! NB Bethesda Terrace is about parallel with 72nd street and is equidistant from either the East Side/5th Ave and the West Side/Central Park West.
Please see collateral forthcoming. See ya there!

People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.
We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.
